So I have had loads going on lately. Work has been busy, as well as personal life being busy for one reason or another. Its kept me away from the blog for a couple months but I'm back on it now and ready to write!

With life being busy it can be easy to let things slip and not do what is right for yourself. As a dad with a full time job and responsibility elsewhere also, I find very little time for myself. It was one of the reasons I started blogging. A way of talking and getting things off my chest. A way of letting people know that they aren't the only ones finding it hard. A way of letting people know that it's going to be ok.

Another thing that keeps me sane, and another thing I haven't had much time for, is keeping fit. I haven't done any running since the 100 miles in February challenge that I took part in back in February (thanks to all those who sponsored and supported me on that). So, yesterday I decided to sign up for an ultra challenge. I have done this twice before. The first being London to Brighton on foot (100km), and the other being 100km around the Chilterns. This time its a smaller one (only a few weeks away so I didn't want to kill myself!). 55km south coast challenge.

Starting in Eastbourne and finishing in Brighton, the course follows the south coast taking many sights including the famous seven sisters. It's a difficult course (hence the smaller distance) but one I am looking forward to as I haven't signed up to anything like this for over 2 years.

So training started yesterday with a 5km street run around my town, and boy did I feel it. I am probably the least fit I have ever been at the moment so motivation was the first big thing to overcome. I got through that and done a 2 mile trail run today.

I always have used running (or walking) as a way of chilling out. It clears my mind as well as helps me feel fitter. And, although I have only been out twice, I have felt a lot better this weekend already. It's a way of destressing and forgetting all the problems that are there everyday. Putting them headphones in and hitting the road is one of the best feelings I can get and even though I am tired and worn out when I get back, I feel happier.

So I am going to be logging my progress on here as well as writing about other stuff. It's good to be back at the computer writing again and this time its for good!

Thanks for everyone's support, it really does help. I do take on criticism, and I do reply to every comment I can.
